Cubmaster:

Tonight it is our pleasure to welcome all of you to the fellowship of Cub Scout Pack 88. As I call your name, please come forward with your parents.

Scouts, with the help of your parents, you have passed the first test of Cub Scouting. You have attained the rank of Bobcat. As with any rank, earning your Bobcat is a significant step in your scouting journey, exemplifying the drive and dedication you show to Cub Scouts and to Pack 88.

I will now ask your parents to assist in the ceremony that recognizes your accomplishment.

The color blue is from the sky. The BLUE PAW PRINT of the Bobcat on your forehead is the spirit of the bobcat, and to remind you to do your best on the Cub Scout Trail.

The yellow is from the sun. The YELLOW MARKS under your eyes will help you see the light of the Cub Scout Trail, and symbolize the bright spirit of Cub Scouting.

The white is from purity. The WHITE VERTICAL STRIPE on your nose is to help you know right from wrong as you go along the Cub Scout Trail.

The red is from courage. The RED VERTICAL STRIPE on your chin will remind you to always speak and seek the truth.

Finally, green is from nature. The GREEN STRIPE on each cheek symbolizes the spirit of nature to guide the Cub Scout in living in harmony with the great outdoors.

Remember your marks of this accomplishment, Bobcats. Have fun along the Cub Scout Trail. Parents, will you present the Bobcat patch to your child? The privilege to present your child with their rank patches will be yours for every rank they earn. This is to encourage you to work as hard as they do through your time, dedication, and encouragement. The patch is to be pinned upside down on their uniform, and remain that way until your child does a good turn, meaning doing something to demonstrate the values of Scouting, at which point the Bobcat patch can be placed at the top of the patch diamond that will be on their left uniform pocket.

Will all scouting parents and helpers in the audience please stand and join these new Cub Scout parents in the Parent’s Participation Promise, repeating after me:

We, the parents of a Cub Scout, promise to assist our child in earning their Cub Scout patches.
We will be faithful in our attendance at den and pack meetings and assist in every way possible as we assist our child to do their best.

You may be seated. Now, will all Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and leaders please stand, raise the sign of the Cub Scout, and repeat the Cub Scout Oath with our new Bobcat scouts.
